RAYS OF SUNSHINE YELLOW
LOCATION: CHARLESTON, SC • MARCH 29, 2017
Over the weekend, Nick and I flew to Charleston for a quick weekend getaway. We had been wanting to make the trip since the beginning of the year but hadn’t found the right time between both of our work schedules. We final booked the tickets last minute and decided to explore all the charm and history the city has to offer. The two of us headed down late on Thursday evening and had no official plans other than our stay at 86 Cannon, eating lots of good food and spending time together for some r&r. We spent a good majority of our time walking around the beautiful neighborhoods lusting after all the quaint, colorful houses, eating our way through the city and popping in and out of all the shops on King street. I had so badly wanted to ride bikes around town but sadly it never came to fruition. We did’t make it to all of our must eat and must see spots so there will most definitely be a return trip in the near future.
We made most of our restaurant plans last minute, depending on our level of hunger and cravings at the moment. On the first day, I arrived to 86 Cannon first and took a short walk down the street to five loaves to grab a sandwich and some soup. The following morning we started the day at Hominy Grill, which is also in the same neighborhood we stayed in, who are famous for their chicken biscuit sandwich. We spent the morning walking the Charleston Historic Village neighborhood before hitting some shops and making our way to Taco Boy for some afternoon tacos. After walking a good majority of the day we headed back to the room to relax before grabbing a late dinner at Lewis’s BBQ. The following morning we grabbed breakfast at Poogan’s Porch and had lunch at Minero. We did dinner at Butcher and Bee that evening, which was recommended by so many people and grabbed Jeni’s Ice cream before walking back to the room. For our last morning, we walked over to King Street and had breakfast at The Macintosh.
The weekend sadly went by too quickly and we found ourselves back at work on Monday morning. The busier our lives tend to get the more and more a weekend away is necessary to help decompress and spend some quality time together. With so many places still on our list like Husk, Hank’s Poe’s Tavern, The Daily and Callie’s Hot Biscuit not too mention venturing out to the different islands and visiting the beach, I hope we make it back sooner than later.
